Eye Accessing Cues, Breaking Ey Contact and Rapport...

Thank you Danel. I brought this ~exact~ point up last year and no
one wished to pursue the usefulness of strategic or tacitally
breaking eye contact as a way to build rapport, rather than the
Assumption that rapport is always direct eye contact and
full or mostly full body facing the subject person.
I would like to explore using this more and
see when shifting body, looking away, or changing a conversation
topic can be used as a technique to deepen trance or
suggestability.

Danel and Will,

First off Will the assumption that rapport is always direct eye contact and
full or mostly full body facing the subject person as far as I can remember
was not brought up in this manner. If so I missed it or the thought was to
funny to even comment on as rapport in my book and the way I use it has
nothing to do with facing someone or always having direct eye contact.

Rapport is about getting, keeping and deepening trust. Rapport can be
obtained from behind and even without the person being in direct eye sight.

Rapport is built or deepened by pacing and leading. Strategic breaking of
eye contact can be a way to deepen rapport if it causes the person you are
in rapport with to follow. Any action that causes someone to follow deepens
rapport. That is called the leading part of pace and lead.

Plus there are also great advantages in getting rapport, breaking rapport
(trying to lead and they don't follow) and getting rapport (pacing) again.

Will you are wanting to discuss fractionation where Danel wants to discuss
how eye accessing cues don't work.

It may be fun to watch a discussion with two different outcomes thinking
they are discussing the same outcome.

It will be fun to see where this conversation goes.

To Your Best,
Doc Houston
